New Beginnings

I have been deeply impacted by the story of church renewal and mission coming out of the Brazil conference of MB churches in recent years. A summary of their story can be found here. This is a story of structural change, of reconciliation and spiritual renewal, and of new mission engagement locally, nationally and globally. My sense is that both the US and Canadian MB conferences of churches are poised for a similar story if we are willing to invest in relationships, renewal, new clarity of mission and a willingness to drop the labels we often project on one another.

2018 represents a year of new beginnings for our conferences of churches. With the merger of the C2C network with MB Mission, we have the opportunity to explore and clarify together what living on mission means here in North America. Our interest is to serve local churches and our conferences in their strategic mission vision so that collectively we will become more fruitful and effective. To that end we will be visiting with groups of leaders in our districts across the US through the USMB Lead One seminars to work together on a strategic plan for One Mission – locally, nationally and globally. Our interest is to do the same work provincially and nationally in Canada once the national/provincial restructuring task force has done its work. We will also be bringing Vision for Mission nights across North America this year to give you a window on what God is doing in least reached regions of the world through MB Mission, and how we see that impacting our story here in North America.

Serving with Don Morris (USMB) and Steve Berg (CCMBC) on one mission, along with all our provincial and district leaders and pastors is an incredible privilege. Together we believe God is leading us into new beginnings in mission that will change our future story as well. Thank you for your prayers and support. Physical slavery is prevalent around the world; it takes many forms. Individuals and people groups are in bondage. Guest speaker, Randy Friesen has seen the amazing power of the Gospel to bring freedom to the oppressed. In our own lives, we can find ourselves enslaved – to sin and to fear. How can we be free? Knowing who we are in Christ is vital to our freedom.
